2021.10.26 15:01 BiggusBeardus Gargantuan Monsters?

Ok, this is a silly debate JUST FOR FUN.
I was thumbing through the new Fizban's Treasury of Dragons and there is a picture of a Great Wyrm red dragon destroying a town. The dragon is nearly the size of the town!
Now, this doesn't just apply to dragons, but any massive monster the PCs may fight.
If you have a creature, and that creature's toe nail is bigger than you, I say you shouldn't be able to hurt it in any significant fashion.
Take the dragons from Game of Thrones. They were TINY compared to a gargantuan D&D creature and the only thing that had a chance of hurting them was the huge ballistas they had.
So how can a group of 4-5 medium creatures with regular weapons even come close to hurting a gargantuan or larger creature? They can't reach any vital areas and if the creature simply puts its hand down on a medium creature, that medium creature would be crushed.
My friend simply says "D&D isn't realistic." Right, got it. But D&D doesn't have to throw logic out the door.
I don't expect D&D to be "realistic," but it should have at least "fantasy logic" that is consistent and makes sense in the context of the setting.
If you had a PC, with NO GEAR and NO MAGIC, try to climb a perfectly smooth 300 ft. wall, the PC can't climb the wall. Why? Gravity? Physics? The point is, no one would argue with me about trying to climb that wall. The players would understand. So how is attacking a toe nail going to kill a gargantuan or larger beast? It WOULDN'T.
I'm not trying to win an argument or prove a point. A friend and I got to discussing this and now I want to see what the community has to say.
Let me hear your logic on killing a gargantuan beast with medium or smaller opponents.

2021.10.26 15:01 grovelingspu can I add two more sticks of identical ram into my pc, will it run the same just with a larger capacity?

I currently have two sticks of 8gb corsair vengeance rgb pro ddr4 ram, and was wondering if i could buy another 16gb of 2x8gb ram, identical to the ram I bought before? would this impact performance, and would it give me a larger capacity at the same speed?

2021.10.26 15:01 Atalkingpizzabox Does anyone ever like a song because of something specific it's associated with that wouldn't make you like the song if it wasn't for that?

Like I remember I enjoyed watching Katy Perry's Dark Horse cause I loved the Egyptian themed setting. Slowly from that I turned out to enjoy the song too. If it wasn't for the Egyptian theme I don't know if I would ever be as interested in it.

2021.10.26 15:01 PrecutMuffin Which CFB Game Has Had the Largest Collection of Future NFL Impact Players?

I was rewatching the 2019 LSU/Alabama game yesterday. Has there ever been a collection of more future pro-bowlers (or at least regular NFL starters) on the field at one time?
LSU: Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, CEH, Delpit, Fulton, Stevens, Queen, Chiasson, Cushenberry, Lewis
Bama: Tua, Jeudy, Ruggs, Smith, Waddle, Harris, McKinney, Diggs, Surtain, Leatherwood, Wills
That doesn’t even include Derek Stingley and Cade York (maybe a stretch?) who should be drafted in the future.
I’ll admit that a lot of the LSU defensive players might be regular-to-fringe starters at best, but the offensive talent is off the charts.
Is there another game in recent memory that had more NFL talent?

2021.10.26 15:01 king_noro [DIVE WATCHES] What's your current favorite & what's on your Wish list?

(I hope this kind of post is allowed. If it is, I'm sure it wasn't the first of its kind and probably won't be the last, either...)
Let's talk dive watches! What's your current favorite (ideally something you currently own) and what's on your wish list? Some might call it their aspirational piece. Whatever you're saving up for. Feel free to say as much as you want about either or both.
Current favorite: Seiko SPB143. This watch is an absolute stunner, one of the few pieces that put a huge smile on my face the moment I unboxed it and put it on the wrist. I think it's the perfect diver, in my opinion. A relatively affordable and attainable replica of the 62MAS.
Wish list: This is actually a harder one for me to answer. For the longest time, I was really into Omegas, specifically their Seamaster line. But I think the lust is starting to wear off. I'd still love to own one someday, but I don't think I want one as much now as I did before. These days, I've been really fascinated by the Tudor Black Bay / Pelagos. I think their design is so charming and cool, a perfect marriage of homage but distinct enough that it stands as its own brand. I know the Tudor 'snowflake' hands are love 'em or hate 'em, but I REALLY love them. The matte finish they typically go for in their dials and bezels is just gorgeous.
Let's hear yours!

2021.10.26 15:01 JonathanBeuys Share allocation during IPO

I often read that some company went public at a valuation of $10B and raised $1B in the process. I wonder - where are the other shares worth $9B that were not sold?
Is there a website that makes it easy to look this up for a given company?
I am somewhat surprised that this is not discussed during each and every IPO.

2021.10.26 15:01 Desmodusrotundus What’s the most original plot you’ve ever read?

I feel like lots of books have similar threads: normal person in an exceptional situation/exceptional person in a normal situation; romance meets trouble but ends in success/tragedy; culprit ends up being a character we’ve already met; or troubled cop solves the crime etc.
With as little spoilers as possible it would be great to know the setting, and what you feel sets it apart from other books.
I’m ideally hoping for plot originality rather than original style.
